What Does First Baptist Church Believe and Teach?

We believe in the authority of the divinely inspired Bible, which teaches that there is only one living and true, triune God, who created all things for His own glory.
We believe God sent His Son to save men and women from their sins. The Son, Jesus Christ, remaining fully God, became fully man, born of a virgin.
We believe that each person, lost in sin, desperately needs to make atonement for his sin but is utterly incapable of doing so on his own.
We believe Jesus, living a perfectly sinless life, gave up His life as a voluntary substitution for us on the cross, paying our penalty and rising from the dead after three days.
We believe that each person has the responsibility to repent of his sinfulness and turn in dependent faith to Jesus Christ, trusting in His atoning work on the cross as the only way to heaven.
We believe that this gift of salvation is freely offered to all men and women and is based not on any person’s attempts at goodness, but based solely on our need and God’s goodness and grace.
